1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using ParentSplit ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.
2. Description of Service
ParentSplit is a mobile and web application designed to help co-parents track, manage, and settle shared child-related expenses. The Service includes features such as expense tracking, receipt scanning, AI-powered categorization, and settlement tracking.
3. User Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to use this Service.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account.
- You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. Workspace and Co-Parent Access
ParentSplit uses a workspace model where two co-parents share access to expense data. By inviting another user to your workspace:
- You consent to sharing expense data with that user.
- You represent that you have authority to share the information you provide.
- Both users will have access to all expenses, receipts, and settlement history within the workspace.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Upload false or misleading expense information
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Upload malicious content or code
- Harass or abuse other users
- Use the Service to violate any court orders or custody agreements
6. Subscription and Payments
- ParentSplit offers both free and premium subscription tiers.
- Premium subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time.
- Refunds are handled according to the policies of your app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store).
- We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice.
7. AI Features
ParentSplit uses artificial intelligence for features such as receipt scanning and expense categorization. By using these features:
- You acknowledge that AI-generated results may not always be accurate.
- You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-extracted data before confirming.
- We are not liable for errors in AI-processed information.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content (excluding user-provided content) are and will remain the exclusive property of ParentSplit. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Service.
9. User Content
You retain ownership of content you upload (such as receipts and expense notes). By uploading content, you grant us a license to use, store, and process that content as necessary to provide the Service.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
ParentSplit is a tool for tracking expenses and is not a substitute for legal, financial, or tax advice. We do not guarantee that using the Service will resolve disputes between co-parents.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PARENTSPLIT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ParentSplit and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the Service.
14. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes by posting the new Terms on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
